Lily French is a Licensed Independent Social Worker, Licensed Massage Therapist, Reiki Master Teacher, and Certified Sound Healer with 15 years experience supporting people’s self-care, healing, and wellness. She has been a faculty member at the University of Iowa School of Social Work since 2012 and at Windemere Institute of Healing Arts from 2005-2011. 

Psychotherapy Practice

As a holistic psychotherapist, my practice honors the whole person – mind, body, and spirit. As a way of helping people heal at a deeper and more lasting level, I use talk therapy and a variety of mind-body techniques. I commonly support people in: recovery from loss or trauma, building resilience in the face of stress and hardship, replacing limiting beliefs, modifying behaviors that no longer serve them, and creating more joy and peace in their lives. However, the specific focus of our work is determined by you and each session is tailored toward your goals. We do this work as a team, where I serve as a resource and facilitator for your process, but ultimately the journey and experience is your own.

My person-centered approach integrates Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment, Narrative, and Solution-Focused therapies. Holistic techniques (such as toning, breathwork, guided meditation, Reiki, sound healing, and sonic EFT) are primarily used to achieve relaxation, release blockages, restore harmony, access your body’s wisdom, and/or reinforce your goals. 

Clients describe me as warm, easy to talk with, supportive, and calming. They value feeling accepted and understood when exploring sensitive issues in their lives.

Energy Medicine & Bodywork Practice

Pre-Covid, I offered compassionate touch and an integrated approach to bodywork combining eastern and western modalities to support a state of peace, balance, and full health. Sessions regularly combine Swedish, Tui Na (meridian massage), Reiki (energy healing), and Sound Therapy. I assist people in achieving peace, comfort, relaxation, balance, insight, and authentic living -- the states of wholeness and well-being.

Reiki is a Japanese form of energy healing. Translated as "universal life energy," Reiki works holistically with the body, mind, and spirit to balance the energy field, release blockages, and promote peace and relaxation. Research has shown that Reiki therapy decreases stress levels, aids in the treatment of insomnia, anxiety, and depression, helps relieve pain, and increases the body's natural immune response. In a Reiki treatment, you are fully clothed and the practitioner uses a light touch or places hands just above the body.

Sound Healing can help us reduce stress, experience a greater sense of well-being and promote healing. It creates deep relaxation, calms our nervous system, balances both hemispheres of our brain, and returns our body’s vibrations to their natural state. In the purest sense, it moves us from a place of disharmony to harmony. Sound can also be used to gently release physical and emotional pain. Good for both our mind and body, it has been shown to reduce anxiety, shift depression, enhance mental clarity, lower blood pressure, improve circulation, stabilize heart rate, reduce pain, shorten recovery periods, improve sleep, and better regulate the limbic system which improves our body’s self-regulation and resilience to stress. The effects of sound therapy are deep and far reaching as it fine tunes the entire body into a state of balance while also facilitating an expansion of our awareness and creative potential. Its ability to increase intuition, creativity and motivation makes it a wonderful tool for supporting positive change in your life.
